So, until it lets me, I'm just going to let you all know that I'm fine. Sadie called me this morning because she heard about the terrorist attack that was thwarted in Barcelona this weekend. It's all under control and I'm not worried because the police in Spain have great intelligence and they cooperate well in order to catch the bad guys. Often terrorists and international criminals that are just passing through Spain get caught and extradited. The word is that the police had been following these guys for months. They published this in the paper today along with their dats of arrival to Spain, which weren't that long ago. In short, they knew this was coming and stopped it when they thought appropriate. The funny thing is that a teacher who I work with lives just above the bakery where they arrested one of these men (14 in total were arrested). It turns out the owner is not involved, but knows everyone else who is. Sergi and I ate at that very bakery back in September when Dad was here. We even brought Dad sweets from there! (Dad, you ate terrorist's friend sweets!) I shudder to think about what would have happened had the police not acted when they did. Sergi and I often ride the metro on the weekends instead of driving the car around the city. Funnily enough, last Saturday I was too tired to go to the city and we decided to stay home. See? Those are my "terrorism insurance instincts". But not to worry, because they caught the bad guys and I'm sure they will continue to do a good job. I'm safe and so is Barcelona.
